Gallery: Golden Hydrant Commemorates 111 Year Anniversary of the 1906 SF Earthquake

Every year on April 18th San Francisco locals remember the great quake of 1906 by painting this fire hydrant gold and decorating it with flowers and ribbons.  It survived the earthquake and the accompanying fires, making it older than a lot of other SF structures that had to be remolded. You can see this little slice of history on 20th and Church next to Dolores Park.
